Neem Karoli Baba : Startup Wale Baba

Neem Karoli Baba was a Great Indian Saint, who lived in his Ashram near Nainital, a famous hill station in the Uttarakhand state of India. Devotees often call him Maharaj Ji. He was believed to be born as the incarnation of Hindu Deity Lord Hanuman. He was a prime devotee of Lord Rama, who was the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. His devotees include:

How to reach Ashram

The Neem Karoli Baba Ashram is commonly called the Kainchi Dham. However, the Ashram is located at Nainital-Almora road . It is located at a distance of 9 km from Bowali and 17 km from Nainital.

One can reach there either by train or by bus. The nearest railway station is  Kathgodam. But most of the devotees board off one station earlier in Haldwani as it is easier to get a taxi or local Bus from there.

In Every one hour runs a Uttarakhand government bus service from Haldwani bus stop to Bowali. Subsequently, Bhowali is a small station from where you may find local Buses up to  Kainchi Dham temple Ashram of Baba Ji.

Among the list followers of Neem Karoli Baba come many famous entrepreneurs who significantly evolved the modern world with their innovative ideas and futuristic products and services.

Even Before the success of the iconic company Apple, Steve Jobs came to India in search of spiritual knowledge. He came to Kainchi Dham and lived there for a long time in the Ashram of Baba Ji.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg when facing hardships before the success of his company had visited India only to pay obeisance at Kainchi Dham. Last year in his interview with Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,he revealed this fact, telling the world that he has been a follower of Baba Ji.

The biggest company of the era, that is, Google founder too mark no exception. He also visited India and took the blessings at the Kainchi Dham.

Popular Story of Neem Karoli Baba Miracles

Maharaj Ji was born in 1900 in the village
Akbarpur, Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh district of India, is a Hindu Brahmin family
His real name was Lakshaman Das Sharma. He married at the age of 11 but soon left his home and family, for spiritual knowledge.

The story of Baba is famous among the followers, according to which Baba Lakshman Das boarded a train without a ticket. Therefore, the conductor decided to stop the train and force Neem Karoli Baba to get off the train. In the village of Neeb Karori, in Uttar Pradesh Farrukhabad District)

After the driver got off the Baba from the train, he found that the train would not leave. After several attempts to start the train, someone suggested that the driver allow the Sadhu to return to the train. Neem Karoli Baba ji agreed to board the train under two conditions.

  1. The railway company promises to build a train station in the city of Neeb Karori (at that time the villagers had to walk many kilometers to the next train station), and
  2. The railway company had to treat Sadus better.

The officials agreed, and Neem Karoli Baba got on the train and jokingly said, “What is it about me to start the trains?”. It started immediately after boarding the train, but the train drivers would not continue unless the Sadhus blessed them to move forward.

Baba gave his blessing, and the train continued. A train station was later built in the village of Neeb Karori. Baba lived in the village of Neeb Karori for a while, and the locals gave him his name.

Famous Believers of Baba Ji

Several Americans who visited him in the 1960s and 1970s are his followers. Many of them changed their names to the Indian names. Now they are famous with names of  Bhagwan Das, Jai Uttal, Krishna Das, Ram Das, Rami Rani, Surya Das.

Spiritual teachers like Ram Dass and Bhagwan Das are spreading the teachings, books, mantra, and quotes of Baba Ji, in America and the western part of the world. In addition, the ashram of Neem Karoli baba is in Taos, USA, Mexico. Krishna Das and Jai Uttal are great American musicians. Miracles of Love is a very famous book by Ram Dass.

How did Neem karoli baba die?

He died at the age of 73, in the early morning of 11 September 1973, in a Hospital at Vrindavan, after slipping into the Diabetic coma. At his last time on the hospital bed, he refused to put on an oxygen mask and ventilator drips. He demands Ganga Jal and repeatedly pronounces “Jai Jagdish Hare” with lower and lower pitch every time, till his last breath.

Samadhi of Baba Ji is at Vrindavan Dham and it was designed by combining church, gurudwara, temple, and mosque. Because baba Ji does not belong to just one community.

Conclusion

Great souls like Neem Karoli Baba Ji are eternal. He has been living in the prayers and beliefs of his disciples across the globe. Every year, a fair is organized in Kainchi Dham. People from various parts of the world assemble for worship, followed by langar organized by the temple committee for the devotees. People will keep on worshipping, praying and paying obeisance at Kainchi Dham as long as human civilization lasts on this land. We shall keep on worshipping noble sadhus like him, who had spent his life in public services, leaving aside his family and home.
